Downtown & Rooster Cafe

IMG_2524The morning was cold and wet and I needed some warmth.  A bloody mary at Rooster Cafe was the perfect solution!  The menu included what seemed like an unlimited number of bloody mary and mimosa options making it as difficult to decide what to drink, as it was what to eat.  I loved that the menu featured ingredients from local, family-owned farms.  Add to that the inviting, comfortable decor and attentive, friendly server who promptly delivered my smoked sirloin crepe, and I had the perfect start to a day.

imgres-1Rooster Cafe is located on Locust in the heart of downtown… home of the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, and the Old Courthouse.  But it is so much more than a place to visit for an occasional baseball game or school field trip.  In recent years, the area has seen an incredible amount of housing IMG_0684development and an influx of residents that keep the streets alive well past the close of business.  A far cry from the after hours ghost town of yesteryear.   Now is clearly the time for “concrete jungle loving” individuals to return to the city.

Downtown is officially located between the Mississippi River and Tucker Boulevard on the East and West, and Chouteau Avenue and Cole Street on the North and South.   The City of St. Louis 2010 census reports that there are 3,721 residents in some 2,905 housing units.  This is an increase of 361.66% over the 2000 census!

For SaleDowntown offers high-rise living at it’s finest.  From repurposed architecturally beautiful buildings to entirely new sleek modern construction, prices range from under 200K to over 900K. Here’s a sample of listings from 7/11/16.  Contact me to find out more about what’s currently available.

imgresI began this entry with my suggestion for a great place to start your morning; what better way to end it than with a suggestion for a great place to spend your evening?  For me, that place is Copia Restaurant & Wine Bar.  They offer free wine tastings every Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm and a daily happy hour from 4:30-7 pm featuring 1/2 price appetizers and $5 Belvedere cocktails.  Cheers!
